Happy 4th Matthew!

Happy 4th birthday to Matthew!  He has grown up so much this last year.  He requested a Toy Story Themed cake with a cowboy on it, so what the birthday boy asks for, the birthday boy gets!  He is really finding his place as the 4th of our boys and keeps up with them all.  When we had his birthday dinner he couldn't believe it.  His reactions to dinner was, "Rolls, I love Rolls!  Rice, I love Rice!  Watermelon, I love Watermelon!  Broccoli and Cheese, I love Broccoli and cheese! Jello, I love Jello!"  I guess when I asked him what he wanted for his birthday dinner he couldn't believe he got it.  He was completely delighted all day that it was his birthday.  When he woke up he came and found me right away and with a huge smile he asked, "Am I 4 now?"  When I said yes he just laughed with delight! We had cake and ice cream with some cousins, Angie and Chris, and Grandpa and Grandma Fredericks.

After playing in D.C. and Pamplin for a few days we finally made it to the beach in Corolla, NC. Some of the fun things we did were boogie boarding, playing in the sand, catching crabs, seeing the sites, taking a walk on the beach during sunrise, deep sea fishing, and relaxing by the pool.

The boys had so much fun that they did not want to leave. They would be happy playing and swimming there every day if they could, but unfortunately Joe had to go back to work.

Last week we flew into D.C. to see some sites before we headed to the beach. We were able to see the U.S. Capital, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, the White House, Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, Smithsonian Archives, & the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. It was so much fun to see our countries history.

We do know that we will never move to the east coast. The traffic there is horrible. If Yahoo says it will take an hour to get to your destination you can count on it taking 2 hours. Even though traffic was horrible, cars don't merge into an ending lane until the last second or they don't know that slower traffic should keep right I still rank UT having worse drivers.

Our next stop was the Pamplin Civil War site. It was really neat to see what the soldiers went through and how it changed our country.

Brad & Kyle really enjoyed seeing the sites and appreciated all of the history we saw. As for William he does not want to see another Memorial for a very long time. William & Matt were good troopers though.
